Greens announce full Shadow Executive for City Council

22nd June 2007 - The Green Party Group on Norwich City Council has announced its full Shadow Executive for this Civic Year. Eight of the Green Party's ten councillors will be shadowing the eight Executive members in the Labour minority administration.

Councillor Adrian Ramsay continues as Co-ordinator of the Group, shadowing council leader Steve Morphew. Adrian is closely monitoring Planning, Economic Development and Waste. Councillor Claire Stephenson becomes Deputy Co-ordinator and she is covering Finance, Resources and Procurement, shadowing Labour Executive member Alan Waters. Claire is also Chair of the council's Scrutiny Committee.

Councillor Adrian Ramsay said: "Having a full Shadow Executive is crucial to ensuring effective opposition and close monitoring of the Labour Executive's decisions and work. However, we will also be playing a constructive role in policy discussions with the other parties to influence council policy whenever possible."

The full Green Party Shadow Executive list is as follows:

  • Councillor Adrian Ramsay: Green Party Group Co-ordinator and spokesperson on Planning, Economic Development and Waste.

  • Councillor Claire Stephenson: Green Party Group Deputy Co-ordinator and spokesperson on Finance, Resources and Procurement.

  • Councillor Tom Llewellyn: Green Party Group Chair and Housing spokesperson.

  • Councillor Janet Bearman: Environment spokesperson.

  • Councillor Rupert Read: Transport spokesperson.

  • Councillor Tom Dylan: Community Safety spokesperson.

  • Councillor Adrian Holmes: Community Involvement spokesperson.

  • Councillor Stephen Little: Culture, Leisure and Tourism spokesperson.
