Public meeting about licence applications

14 September 2005 - Norwich Green Party has organised a public meeting to discuss ways of lobbying the City Council to make up for the errors it made over consulting with residents about late licence applications.

Last month, the City Council Licensing Section announced that it had given residents incorrect dates for the deadlines for commenting on late licence applications and that it would only accept comments for consideration that were received before the earlier deadline that it should have set. As a result, many residents' submissions have been ignored by the Council and some late licence applications (where no comments were received by the earlier deadline) have been granted automatically.

The meeting will provide residents with an opportunity to meet other people whose submissions were rejected by the Council, and to discuss ways forward on the issue with Green Party Councillors. The Green Party is calling upon the Council to either accept all comments received by the original deadlines it set, or to start all the affected consultation processes again.

The public meeting will take place on Wednesday 21 September, 7:30pm at St Peter's Methodist Church Hall, Park Lane.
